The DJI Mini 3 Pro has been teased for quite some time, with leaks, rumors, and speculation making the rounds of the Internet for the last few months. But the time has finally come for DJI to release the newest micro drone in its Mini series, and the results are better than we could have ever hoped for.
Micro drones have become an incredibly popular option for drone enthusiasts, as their miniature size sets them underneath the 250g limit set by Transport Canada. This means that you don’t need registration in most countries and regions to fly it–once you buy the drone you’ll be off and running! But while most micro drones have to sacrifice some of the technological capabilities present in larger drones, the Mini 3 Pro is the most advanced of its kind. With a 1/1.3-inch sensor, top-tier features, and upgraded safety features, the Mini 3 is the safest in the series of mini DJI drones. The redesigned gimbal also offers a wider rotation range for low-angle shots and True Vertical Shooting, allowing endless creative opportunities.
The DJI Mavic Mini 3 comes with a completely new look that is optimized to get more out of every flight. The new model includes larger propellers, an aerodynamic body tilt, and a powerful obstacle sensing system that makes it a major improvement upon previous mini DJI drones. The streamlined design not only keeps it portable and lightweight, but also allows for increased flight time and safety.
Like previous mini drones, the DJI Mini 3 Pro has a foldable and compact design that makes it easy to carry along with you wherever you go. Whether you’re headed out on a hike, beach day, or an impromptu weekend away, you’ll be ready to capture breathtaking footage whenever inspiration strikes. And when you’re finished filming, all you have to do is fold down the drone to its compact size and carry it in your pocket or bag.
When it comes to the length of time a micro drone can fly while you’re filming in the middle of a remote location, every minute counts. The Mini 3 Pro allows you to capture and explore more of your surroundings with an extended flight time of up to 34 minutes. The longer flight time is due to the micro drone’s ultra-lightweight Intelligent Flight Battery, which has enough power to cover all your aerial photography needs.
If you’re the kind of person that likes to push each flight to the limit, then DJI has you covered. You can upgrade to the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus and enjoy care-free exploration for up to 47 minutes. This kind of flight time is more than enough to let you capture that perfect shot without having to break to recharge the battery.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro works well in a wide range of lighting conditions. The 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor features dual native ISO and supports the direct output of HDR footage. This high dynamic range helps reveal even more detail in highlights and shadows, offering you the kind of superior visual quality that rivals larger commercial DJI drones. With bigger 2.4μm pixels and an aperture ratio of f/1.7 more light available, your images will appear true-to-life even in low-light scenes.
The DJI Mavic Mini 3 will help you take your content to the next level with stunning 4K HDR video and 48MP RAW photos. You’ll marvel at the rich clarity of every image you snap with this upgraded camera, even as you use the 4x digital zoom to get closer to your subject. You can even slow things down as the world gets hectic with the dramatic 1080p/120fps slow-motion video.
This allows you to take gorgeous, cinematic slow-motion videos that can add a magical quality to almost any footage. Lastly, D-Cinelike Color mode will provide even more visual information, offering you richer color possibilities and more flexibility when editing.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro is fully upgraded to support active obstacle sensing and stable video transmission. It is truly the safest Mini to date, ensuring a safe and obstacle-free flight as you search for the perfect shot. Equipped with forward, backward, and downward dual-vision sensors and an all-new aircraft design, the Mini 3 offers a broader sensing range and enhanced safety.
The Mini 3 relies on Advanced Pilot Assistance Systems (APAS 4.0) to detect objects in the aircraft’s flight path in real-time.
This allows the DJI Mini 3 Pro to avoid obstacles even when flying in complicated environments.
Whether you’re navigating hard-to-reach places or flying between the trees as you film in the forest, you’ll be able to deftly avoid any obstacles and return your drone home safely.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro boasts a flagship-level video transmission system in DJI Ocusync 3.0. DJI O3 ensures a 1080p/30fps live feed at distances of up to 12 km, ensuring you’re in constant contact with the drone throughout your flight. You can either operate the drone via your smartphone or via one of two different DJI controllers: the DJI RC-N1 Remote Controller or the new DJI RC. Both controllers offer a max video bitrate of 18 Mbps delivered at an ultra-low latency of 120 ms, making the operation of the DJI Mini 3 as easy and seamless as possible.
One of the biggest perks of the Mini 3 Pro is the use of True Vertical Shooting, a new feature that allows you to quickly switch between landscape and portrait in just a tap. The re-engineered camera gimbal rotates 90 degrees, so you won’t have to compromise on image quality.
All you have to do is tap to switch between modes, giving you greater creative freedom when filming and ensuring the quality of all your shots.
True Vertical Shooting gives you detailed shots that are instantly ready for social media, allowing you to wow your friends and family with perfectly optimized pictures and videos.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro offers an extensive range of intelligent features so you can add show-stopping moments and creative flair to any video. These features make flying the drone easier than ever, allowing you to focus solely on capturing the perfect shot at just the right time.
Follow your subject wherever it goes with FocusTrack. The suite includes ActiveTrack 4.0, Spotlight 2.0, and Point of Interest 3.0, three powerful storytelling tools. ActiveTrack allows you to follow a moving subject throughout the shot. The drone uses its vision and sensing systems to maintain safe flight while tracking the subject, allowing you to focus on the shot. Spotlight 2.0 will lock onto a fixed subject and keep it in the center of the frame, while Point of Interest 3.0 will set an automated flight path around a moving subject. This allows you to film a video while circling or following a moving subject, creating a cinematic video with the touch of a button.
MasterShots is a true game-changer for any beginner aerial photographer. Simply select your subject, and the Mini 3 Pro will execute a sequence of pro maneuvers, generating a short cinematic video afterward.
For those who were fans of QuickShots, which allowed you to film automatic videos like Rocket, Helix, and Boomerang with the touch of a button, MasterShots is the next evolution.
This fan favorite is one of the most exciting features of the new DJI Mavic Mini 3.
Hyperlapse is another cool feature of the Mini 3 Pro that can enhance the cinematic quality of your videos. Speed up time with just a few taps by creating a striking hyperlapse or timelapse video. With Hyperlapse mode, you can capture moving traffic or rolling clouds and inject some drama into your videos. No complicated post-processing required!
With the QuickTransfer mode, you’ll be instantly ready to share your creations as soon as you’ve finished filming. The Mini 3 Pro supports high-speed Wi-Fi downloads at up to 30 Mbps, giving you the data right where you need it in a much shorter time frame.
You can use the Panorama feature of the Mini 3 to capture the vastness of any landscape. Wide-angle, 180 degree, Vertical, and Sphere panorama shots will all stitch together multiple different photos to provide you with one giant shot.
Get closer to your subject with 4x digital zoom. This lets you capture scenes without disturbing them and scout shots from afar. If you’re ever in need of shooting a close-up video or photo but unable to physically move any closer, then digital zoom has you covered.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro has several optional accessories that will enhance your flight and allow you to do even more with this powerful mini DJI drone.
The Intelligent Flight Battery Plus has a 47-minute max flight time, increasing the max flight time of the Mini 3 by an astounding 13 minutes.
This gives you more every time you take off, allowing you to spend more time filming and less time worrying about running out of juice.
Free up your phone with the DJI RC. This lightweight remote controller features a built-in screen designed explicitly for DJI Mini 3 Pro. With the DJI Fly app pre-installed, you can focus on flying and save your phone's battery.
The last thing you want to worry about when filming in remote locations is running out of battery. With the two-way charging hub, you can hold and power three batteries in sequence.
Take it with you to charge your remote controller, smartphone, or other devices when a top-up is needed. This will allow you to keep extra batteries on hand and make sure that your Mini 3 can remain in the air as long as possible.
Changing lighting conditions can present difficulties when you’re filming in the early hours of the morning or late hours of the evening. With ND 16/64/256 filters, you’ll always be ready for the perfect shot. The ND filters set allows you to adapt to changing lighting conditions and keep your footage looking sharp.
The DJI Mini 3 Pro Wide-Angle Lens allows you to get more of the scene by expanding your field of view from 75 degrees to 100 degrees when recording videos (16:9).
This makes sure that nothing gets left out.
The basic package costs CAD $979 and includes the Mini 3 drone, an RC-N1 remote controller, RC cables, one flight battery, a USB-C fast charging cable, and spare props.
If you want to take advantage of the optional remote controller accessory, then splurge a little more for the upgraded package. This includes the same components as the basic package with an additional DJI RC for CAD $1179. The DJI RC is a stripped down version of the DJI RC Pro from the Mavic 3 series.
The Fly More Kit costs CAD $249 and is sold separately, allowing you to decide later if you want to try it out. The Fly More Kit includes two Intelligent Flight Batteries, a Two-way Charging Hub, two pairs of propellers, 12 pairs of screws, a shoulder bag, and a USB 3.0 Type-C Data Cable.
The Fly More Kit Plus costs CAD $319, including the same as the regular Fly More Kit but with two Intelligent Flight Battery Plus batteries instead of the normal flight batteries.
When compared to other micro drones on the market, the DJI Mini 3 Pro outperforms them all. The DJI Mini 3 Pro, like the Mavic Mini, has a fold-down design that fits in the palm of your hand, making it ideal for travel. If you're going on a tropical vacation or hiking in the icy mountains, you can easily pack the Mini 3 into a bag and take it with you. Despite its small size, this 4K micro drone can withstand strong winds. The DJI Mini 3 Pro is truly smaller, lighter, and better with obstacle avoidance, FocusTrack, and an upgraded OcuSync 3.0 transmission system.
