Teledyne FLIR SIRAS

From the world leader in thermal imaging, the Teledyne FLIR SIRAS delivers a geofence-free flight experience with thermal and visible imaging capabilities, giving pilots the flexibility they need to tackle the mission at hand.

The 31-minute flight duration, radar-based front collision avoidance, and backpack portability of the IP-54-rated aircraft enable professional UAV pilots to fly safely when and where the mission requires. A quick-connect gimbal on the included VueĀ® TV128 payload provides imagery compatible with FLIR Thermal StudioTM and top third-party photogrammetry programs which is suitable for a wide variety of enterprise applications. The zoom range of the 16MP visible camera is 128x for fine details. Best-in-class thermal imagery, 5x digital zoom, and temperature measurement of each pixel in the scene are all provided by the integrated 640x512 pixel, radiometric BosonĀ® core.

Using patented MSXĀ® technology, the quick-connect VueĀ® TV128 payload combines thermal imagery with visible-light outlines to deliver crucial information in real time. The 128x zoom on the 16MP visible camera produces sharp, minute details. Sharp thermal imagery, 5x digital zoom, precise temperature measurement, and compatibility with FLIR Thermal StudioTM analysis software are all features of a 640x512-pixel, radiometric FLIR BosonĀ®.

thermal & visual cameras

A thermal and visible camera are both housed in the SIRAS's interchangeable payload. This includes the quick-connect, swappable gimbal-equipped Vue TV128 radiometric thermal camera. Additionally, it has patented MSX technology, which enhances thermal imagery with visible-light outlines. With the help of this potent tool, users can extract more information from thermal scenes and pinpoint the exact location of hotspots and other significant thermal readings. The FLIR SIRAS also has a 16MP visible camera that can capture sharp, clear images at a distance.

Without having to fly the drone into any hazardous areas, the visual camera's 128x zoom can focus on smaller details. For firefighters monitoring wildfires and other dangerous situations where the drone can't safely approach too closely, this is incredibly useful. The SIRAS has a built-in, radiometric thermal imager based on the FLIR Boson core with 640x512 pixels that can measure absolute temperature. This compact, light-weight package is especially helpful for gathering temperature data for quantitative evaluation because it can record the temperature of each pixel in the scene. The radiometric accuracy provides a temperature measurement accuracy of 5 Ā°C (8 Ā°F) and a software feature called Spot Meter Accuracy that evaluates the precision of each temperature measurement in the scene.

FLIR SIRAS Front RADAR obstacle avoidance

Obstacle Avoidance Systems

The SIRAS features a front facing obstacle detection and avoidance system that has a range of up to 30m when flying at about 18km/h. This is a revolutionary system that is based on a front facing RADAR rather than a traditional visual and infrared ToF sensor based implementation.

This provides obstacle sensing even in the dark where most vision based systems will fail. The SIRAS also has downward facing sensors that allow for accurate hover and depth perception for a controlled descent when landing.

Flight Time

The SIRAS is capable of a maximum flight time of up to 31 minutes and a maximum hover time of up to 28 minutes. This gives operators enough time in the air to complete the mission at hand and the automatic 20% Battery alarm provides an audible alarm to the pilot. The SIRAS also has an automatic return to home feature that activates as a failsafe at 10% battery making the SIRAS come back and land where it took off from.

Hot-Swap Batteries

The SIRAS features a hot-swappable battery system meaning the batteries can be swapped out one at a time while the drone is still powered up, thus cutting down on setup and downtime between battery changes.

With a charge time of about 45 minutes, the pilots can keep the SIRAS flying continuously with only three sets of batteries.

IP54 Rated Ingress Protection

The SIRAS has an IP54 rated construction that makes it dust and water resistant. Pilots can now get the mission done even in harsh weather, rain or even snow. The IP rating extends the usability of the system beyond what regular systems are capable of, thus making the SIRAS versatile.

FLIR SIRAS Remote Controller

Remote Controller

The SIRAS is controlled using an IP54 rated remote controller that has a 1000-nit high brightness screen that displays flight telemetry, controls and the live video downlink.

This remote controller runs the proprietary flight app developed by Teledyne FLIR that provides an intuitive user interface and has a convenient, familiar layout for all essential controls.

The remote features a long-range dual band (2.4GHz/5.8GHz) transmission system that is capable of up to 9km of operating distance. The screen displays the video downlink at 720p 30fps and has a low latency of less than 1 sec.

No Geofencing

The Teledyne FLIR SIRAS drone is designed without the restrictive geofencing capability found in most enterprise drones, allowing it to operate without geographical constraints. You will not need to request permission from Teledyne FLIR to fly in certain areas, nor will you be restricted from flying above a certain altitude. The FLIR SIRAS can go anywhere, at any time, because it is not limited by geofencing.

Teledyne FLIR places the responsibility of regulatory limitations and approval to flight in restricted airspace on the pilot.

DATA Security

The SIRAS is also built with data security in mind, storing imagery on an onboard microSD card rather than in the cloud. In fact, it lacks cloud connectivity altogether, further reducing the possibility of data breaches.

FLIR goes above and beyond to protect the data chain of custody by not requiring their pilots to create an online profile. This not only makes the SIRAS easier to use, but it also reduces the possibility of unintended online data access. In a world where data breaches are common, this emphasis on data security goes a long way toward protecting pilots' valuable missions.

SOFTWARE

The SIRAS is supported by the complete FLIR Thermal Studio suite for thermal image analysis and reporting. The SIRAS is also supported by the Pix4D photogrammetry platform for data collection as well as processing.
