Frequently Asked Questions

Aircraft

Q: What's the difference between the Matrice 30 and Matrice 30T?

A: The Matrice 30 series offers two models: the M30, which features a gimbal with three sensors (wide-angle camera, zoom camera, and laser range finder), and the M30T, which includes an additional fourth sensor: a thermal imaging camera.

Q: Which version of the M30 is compatible with the DJI Dock?

A: The DJI Dock is compatible with the M30 (Dock version) and the M30T (Dock version), but not with the standard M30 series drones. The M30 (Dock version) has slight modifications to its body, making it compatible with the DJI Dock. When purchasing the DJI Dock, it comes with either the M30 (Dock version) or the M30T (Dock version).

Q: Does it support frame arm lock detection?

A: Yes, the M30 series features a frame arm lock function. If the arm isn't unfolded properly, the app will display a warning and prevent takeoff.

BATTERY

Q: How long does it take to fully charge two TB30 Intelligent Flight Batteries?

A: Using the BS30 Intelligent Battery Station, it takes about 50 minutes to fully charge two TB30 Intelligent Flight Batteries. Charging to 90% takes around 40 minutes, and charging from 20% to 90% takes approximately 30 minutes.

Q: Can TB30 Intelligent Flight Batteries be used in low-temperature environments?

A: Yes, TB30 Intelligent Flight Batteries can operate in temperatures ranging from -20°C (-4°F) to 50°C (122°F). However, battery life may be reduced in low temperatures. To optimize performance, it’s recommended to keep the battery temperature above 18°C (64°F) or use the self-heating function to heat it to that level (a takeoff limit will be triggered if the battery is below 10°C (50°F)).

Q: Can I bring a TB30 Intelligent Flight Battery on a plane?

A: The TB30 Intelligent Flight Battery has a capacity of 131.6 watt hours. Make sure to follow the airline's regulations when traveling with batteries.

Q: Why does the battery heat up during long-term storage?

A: When a lithium battery is stored at full charge for an extended period, its lifespan is significantly reduced. To prevent this, the TB30 Intelligent Flight Battery will automatically discharge to around 60%. Some heat is released during this process, which is normal.

Q: Does the BS30 Intelligent Battery Station support auto-discharging?

A: No, the BS30 Intelligent Battery Station does not support auto-discharging of batteries.

CAMERA

Q: Can the gimbal and camera on the M30 Series be replaced with other payloads?

A: No, the gimbal and camera are fixed and cannot be replaced.

Q: What photo modes are available on the M30 series aircraft?

A: The available photo modes are Single Shot, High-res Grid Photo, Timed Shot, Panorama, and Smart Low-light Photo.

Q: How do you use the gimbal lock function, and why is it necessary?

A: To lock the gimbal's tilt, flip it up by 90°. Locking the tilt helps protect the camera lens and prevent scratches during transport or storage. The gimbal can be quickly unlocked upon reaching the operation site, reducing preparation time.

Q: Does the M30 series support SDK functionality?

A: Yes, the M30 series supports both the Payload SDK and Mobile SDK. The Payload SDK interface, located on top of the M30 series aircraft, also integrates the functions of the Onboard SDK. For further technical support, contact dev@dji.com.

Q: Does the M30 series support precise mapping?

A: No, the M30 series is not designed for aerial surveying. While users can plan a flight path and take photos in the aerial FPV mode using the DJI Pilot 2 App, the accuracy of the model is not guaranteed.

Q: Can the M30 series be used with the D-RTK 2 Mobile Station?

A: Yes, but you will need to upgrade the firmware of the D-RTK 2 Mobile Station to the latest version for compatibility with the M30 series.

Q: Can third-party apps be installed on the DJI RC Plus?

A: Yes, the DJI RC Plus supports the installation of third-party apps.

Q: Is the M30 series remote controller (RC) compatible with the Matrice 300 RTK?

A: Yes, please update the Matrice 300 RTK firmware to v07.xx.xx.xx.

Q: How do I upgrade the firmware of the M30 series?

A: Connect the aircraft to a computer and use DJI Assistant 2 For Enterprise to update the firmware for the aircraft, remote controller (RC), and D-RTK 2 Mobile Station. Alternatively, you can use the DJI Pilot 2 App to update the firmware for the aircraft, RC, and BS30 Intelligent Battery Station. For an offline update, download the firmware from the DJI website (insert hyperlink) and insert an SD card containing the firmware package into the aircraft.
Refer to the User Manual for detailed instructions.

Q: Does the M30 series support dual control?

A: Yes, dual control is supported.

Q: Which apps are compatible with the M30 series?

A: The M30 series supports DJI Pilot 2 (for Android) and other software developed using the MSDK.
